Yin Yoga and Meditation: Peace and Inner Harmony
The practice of Yin Yoga is one of the most profound ways to experience yoga because it has the power to bring us in close contact with the deepest aspects of ourselves while cultivating the silent witness within that allows everything to be just as it is. Each posture is a meditation with our body, our awareness, and our breath. On a physical level, a yin yoga practice helps us access the tissues in our body that are difficult to stretch, such as the joints, ligaments, and deeper fascia. We hold simple yoga poses for a longer time in a very relaxed way.
Some of the benefits of a yin practice include:
This series is designed to assist us in establishing a greater sense of peace and harmony within and in the way we experience life as we explore specific themes each week. It also offers an opportunity to learn various meditation techniques while holding poses and during the final relaxation at the end of class. Moments of personal reflection will be encouraged during and in-between classes to further integrate the teachings and practices, handouts will be provided.
Themes explored will include:

Here are some testimonials from past Yin Series participants:
“Very successful and enjoyable series. Thank you! I liked the development of the practice week after week; the “yin” focus was just what I needed; the consistency of the group with the same participants. I’ve had a lot of stress lately. It really has helped me to relax. I’ve slept better. It’s also given me some good tools to work with from home.” Candis
“I enjoy a class that allows the student time to be with a pose. It makes the class enjoyable and this series was that. It met my expectation. It helped to bring awareness to my postures and when I may be going beyond my edge; that I must continue to be in tune with my body, try and understand what’s happening and choose or create the adjustment when necessary. It continues to build on my personal theme of awareness and mindfulness in my yoga practice.” G.T.
