IAm Yoga - The Posture of Consciousness (Level 1 Amrit Yoga)
Whether you are new to yoga or an experienced yogi, this class offers a well-rounded practice anchored in the traditional yogic teachings of Patanjali: wisdom teachings (Yamas/Niyamas), postures (Asana), breathing (Pranayama), inward focus (Pratyahara), concentration (Dharana), meditation (Dhyana), and integration (Samadhi). This class is designed to help you experience a set of traditional hatha yoga poses as you learn to disengage from your mind, and drop into your felt experience. Using breath, alignment, inward focus, meditative awareness, and energetic press points as anchors, you will explore the interplay of "making it happen" and "letting it happen". Becoming more established in this type of practice, you will awaken to the presence of energy (prana) within yourself, experience a deeper connection with yourself, and grow at all levels of your being. If you are new to yoga, this class will provide a strong foundation for your developing practice. Low to Medium intensity.
I Am Yoga - Meditation in Motion & Yoga Nidra (Level 2 Amrit Yoga)
This class begins with a short yoga nidra to help you shift out of your busy day, and enter a state of "integrative relaxation" preparing you for the meditation in motion practice. Yoga nidra literally translates as "yogic sleep"; it is considered a form of meditation that is achieved effortlessly simply by relaxing deeply. While lying down, you will be guided into relaxation through a combination of breathing and focusing techniques, imagery or other processes. The practice of meditation in motion is a less structured style of yoga that invites you to follow the guidance that comes directly from your body and from prana, the life force energy that moves through your body. Various tools will be used to assist you in following your body's innate wisdom, including conscious feeling, prolonged holding, complementary flow, micromovements, variations, improvisations, and prana kriya. This type of practice is relaxing, healing, and liberating, it brings forth a deep sense of connection with yourself, allowing prana to flow freely and to gently release long-held patterns at all levels of your being. Some familiarity with yoga poses is recommended but not mandatory as yoga poses will not be guided in a structured way allowing for greater personal exploration. Low to Medium intensity.
I Am Yoga Therapy - Stretch, Restore & Heal
This style of therapeutic yoga combines gentle stretches and restorative yoga poses using props, including the wall, designed to open specific energy centers in the body (chakras) while using tools such as conscious breathing, relaxation, allowing, witnessing, polarity integration, focusing, and yoga nidra, for the purpose of healing at a deeper level. Through mindful awareness of bodily sensations and breath, the blocked energies that underlie symptoms, whether they are at the physical, mental/emotional, or spiritual levels, begin to release and rebalance themselves gradually and effortlessly. When given permission to move as it pleases, prana, the evolutionary force within us, knows exactly what to do to return to a state of balance, we simply learn to observe, allow, and feel its movements. This is a profound practice that goes to the root cause of symptoms and issues without the need to analyze or understand any of them at the level of mind. Props will be provided for this class, and you are welcome to bring your own. Low intensity.
