Therapeutic Yoga at Heart Journey combines various approaches from two systems approved by the IAYT, the International Association of Yoga Therapists. Depending on the unique needs of clients, one or both of these systems may be used to create specific protocols to meet personal goals.
1) Ajna Model of Therapeutic Yoga that addresses the whole person
Through a gentle and non-intrusive physical assessment of the client's needs, and taking into consideration their other koshas/bodies (energy, mind, emotions, wisdom, and spiritual aspects), a unique therapeutic plan is created to meet the client's very specific goals. The main focus is on exploring practices from the 8-limb path of yoga that can assist clients in living rich, empowering, and fulfilling lives. Practices may include breathing techniques, yoga poses in a style and format suitable to the client's needs, hand mudras, meditation, spiritual/ethical yogic teachings that can be applied to modern life, all of these offered in a heart-centered, compassionate, and non-oppressive safe environment.
I specialize in the following therapeutic areas:
2) The Integrative Amrit Method of Body Psychology
The Integrative Amrit Method of Body Psychology (I AM Yoga Therapy) involves deep restorative stretches and energy opening practices. It uses wall, props, and therapeutic poses to help the receiver move into areas of stiffness, constriction, tightness and pain that they normally avoid. Avoiding areas of tension keeps the tightness intact and allows the body to continue to build up tension and exacerbates misalignment in the body. As the body is held in various positions for longer periods of time in coordination with breath and meditative facilitation, it is possible to move more fully into tight areas and effectively release them gently.
This unique style of yoga therapy works with the body as an entry point to access the underlying energetic blockages at the root of all types of experienced symptoms, whether physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. During the session, the receiver’s focus is held on bodily sensations which are the detectable aspects of the energy body. By shifting the body, we can affect our mental and emotional states and enhance our overall sense of well-being; frozen energy in the body is revealed and it can finally integrate itself.

- Noticing energy movement such as shaking, tingling, pulsations, and vibrations in the body
- Profound relaxation of breath and body
- Receiving insights, an inner knowing
- Sense of Oneness, deep meditation
- Spontaneous yoga nidra states
Physical benefits of the Amrit Method of Yoga Therapy:
- Relief of stress on joints
- Improved range of motion and mobility
- Increased blood flow and circulation
- Reduced stiffness, pain, and inflammation
