Hae Kwang Sunim started training at the age of 18 in Thailand. He has taken full seminary and in temple training, with graduated ordinations (including Bhikkhu ordination) under Patriarch Kun Sunim in South Korea. He spent over 25 years distilling the deepest and hardest to grasp teachings into a simplified language so it can be taught and effectively applied directly in daily life. In 2005, the 19th Headquarters in Korea appointed Venerable Hae Kwang as Director of Bo Kwang Zen Center Palm Springs, U.S.A. In 2013, the Western Bhikkhus Council nominated Hae Kwang Sunim 교구장 Kyo Goo Jahng of all American-European Temples (closest english translation: North American-European Oversight Head / Bishop / Director).
Hae Kwang Sunim drew from the most effective mind-body teachings he acquired from studying under different teachers in the East, including the teachings of Wat Bua Luang in Thailand. The methodology is based on the ancient Eastern principles of Hai Palung (Energy Healing), Pon Klie Kwan Sow (Emotional Release), Meditation, Food Based Healing and the importance of compassion, gratitude, oneness, outreach and the need to support the whole person holistically - body, mind and spirit.
January Workshop with Suniti
Journey Into the Fire Dharma/Soul Path - Passionate Commitment - “Coming-of-Age” Ceremony
Fire is the element of transformation, passion, and commitment. Shamanically, the element of fire speaks to our heart, burning away all that is false or unnecessary, revealing essential truths about who we are. The solar plexus center is the one associated with fire. The developmental crisis embodied in the solar plexus happens between the ages of 12 and 18: it is defined as identity vs. confusion. This is a time in our life when we establish a sense of identity based on our character, interests, values, and passions or we end up being confused about our role in this world.
It is never too late to figure out our Dharma, and it is never too late to have a “coming-of-age” ceremony as most of us never had one! According to Deepak Chopra, the Law of Dharma says that we have taken manifestation in physical form to fulfill a purpose. We each have a unique talent and a unique way of expressing it. In order for us to truly feel fulfilled, it is important to express our unique talents!
You may already be aware of your Dharma, and maybe you are already expressing it… Whether you are looking to discover your Dharma or are looking to be more aligned with your Soul Path right now (re. what is it that your Soul is guiding you to do these days?), this workshop is designed to help you re-ignite a passionate sense of purpose in line with your personal truth, and to celebrate you for being you!
Highlights of this event will include:
Contemplation and written exploration of key questions that will open you up to the possibilities of what you are meant to do in your life right now.
A guided shamanic Vision Quest meditation to help you discover further what you are meant to be doing at this important time in your life, and to help align you with your Soul’s Path and/or Dharma.
Gentle yoga and movement to help stir up your passion and commitment in regard to what you have received from your Vision Quest (please note, the yoga portion will be about 15 to 20 min max, this is not a typical class).
A beautiful Coming-of-Age Ceremony to anchor you on your Soul’s Path and to celebrate you for stepping into the truth of your new-found identity and purpose!
Please bring an unscented candle (with a holder if relevant) to help build our “bonfire” to open up sacred circle.
